Thurisaz meaning

Thurisaz is a breakthrough rune. It is often associated with gates, coming through to the new reality, new stage in life, doing something unthinkable before. I would agree that it is really very powerful rune, and it lets you push all the boundaries.

My Thurisaz week started with a great endeavor to and ancient sacred forest and the full day trip was great. I climbed the hills, hiked through hidden patches and saw a lot. The connection with ancient power and nature felt breathtaking and I think is one of Thurisaz meaning. Thurisaz is an ancient, uncivilized power, that people are often afraid of today. Thurisaz is standing on a high hill above precipice, and feeling you can fly. It gives you power when you have a path and can get you energy you’ve never expected.

Thurisaz is also about overcoming your fears, it’s not easy but just try not following them. Often it turns out that when you stop listening to fears and do what you want no obstacles arise. Thurisaz helps to leave fears behind, and empowers you once you do.

I had busy second part of Thurisaz week, but managed to finish all my tasks and get a vacation. I would use Thurisaz when I want something hard done or do more than usual at a given time. The tiredness from all the things you do with Thurisaz would come later, but I think milder than it could, though planning for a good rest afterwards is necessary.

Some authors connect Thurisaz with atomic energy and I think there’s some truth in it. But Thurisaz can have both forms – controlled (not fully, I would say channeled but still) energy and not directed blow. The more aggressive form of Thurisaz can be used as protection. The circle of Thurisaz with the Thorn out can give a full protection returning everything back with added intensity. The Thorn meaning of Thurisaz is used here. I’ve used such protection before and while it’s powerful it takes lots of energy and should not be used longterm.

Thurisaz energy is also often connected to revolution and I used it to push for some changes in the past. But judging from this Thurisaz week I would say it is more about overcoming fears, and doing what you really want. It can require some loud change but can also use the circumstances, the main result is doing what your fears prevented you from before, and doing it successfully. The Thurisaz rune would not suddenly make you unafraid, but it would give you strength to dare and follow your true will.
