When we talk about interpreting runes, what I hate most is using our day’s attitude and just projecting it on runes. I mean when the author tells you the runes advise is to excuse your enemies to find inner piece or be humble it’s bad enough. Add to it being a pacifist and you get a jackpot of what runes are not and absolutely say not. If you know a bit of ancient history you would understand that. If not most any Viking age history would show that values at that time were far from today’s Christian mentality or even today’s new age or Wicca learnings. The core values are still there, in the System. Of course you need to adapt the reading to modern day world. Like runes would not advice you to just kill your enemy and get into jail, runes work with today’s reality and the means you use can be different, most often should be different. But it’s important not to mistake means with the purpose you want to achieve. Today’s battles are often fought with computers or money or speech. This does not make them any less battles, and this should not stop you from getting Victory! To truly feel the connection with runes and to better interpret runes advice you need to know the North Tradition, Gods and myths. It’s the runic universe and taking only one part would never let you to feel or use the full power of runes.
